Eco-Tourism

Garzón Village is a place that seems to have frozen in a time-lapse.

It has become a favored destination for tourists, looking for tranquility and excellent services.

A walk through its streets and highlights, and visiting the famous restaurant Garzón, with the renowned chef Lucia Soria.

Eco-Construction

The small nation of Uruguay has the big distinction of building South America’s first sustainable school.

It produces no waste and is powered by solar panels.

Recycled materials used to construct building include tires, bottles, and aluminum cans.

Young students not only get to attend a school that’s “green,” they are given an environmental education and learn to protect the environment as well.

Sustainability

The largest foreign direct investment in Uruguay’s history, in a pulp factory, is estimated to bring thousands of new jobs and boost GDP.

But it could also be an opportunity to lay out a more sustainable future, one that focuses on economic diversification, local knowledge, and sound environmental policies.

UNDP is working with the country to reimagine a sustainable future using SDG integration.
