Organic Community

This short documentary shows how the remote Island of Abaiang in Kiribati is moving towards being a fully organic island.

It shows how villagers value age-old traditional farming practices that have been handed down from one generation to the next and how these very practices combined with community-driven and participatory organic certification can lead to niche market opportunities.

This project is supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development(IFAD), Secretariat of the Pacific Community, and the Pacific Organic and Ethical Trade Community (POETCom)
