Pedro Pedrosa and his wife Sofia left city life over a decade ago for a mostly-abandoned farming village in Central Portugal. 

After creating their home from several small outbuildings, they continued to experiment with local building materials- cork, pine, lime and slate- by transforming three stone storage sheds into “Nature House” vacation rentals.

Herdade do Freixo do Meio is a project that became a sustainable reality for many beings. 

It is a big organic farm and organism, integrating with the surrounding Montado, a typical ecosystem from Alentejo, Portugal. 

The presence of human beings here wants to be peaceful cooperation that welcomes and arouses biodiversity.

Climate Change

This dam in the Alentejo region, in southern Portugal, has dried up due to an extended period of drought in the country. 

It is so dry that it is possible to drive by car where water used to be. 

Makes one thing about the effects of climate change in nature and in people’s lives that depend on this water.
